The Book of Acts provides the basic history of the spread of Christianity during the 30 years immediately following the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The Book can be called “The Acts of the Holy Spirit,” because it teaches about the coming and work of the Spirit.  The theme of the work is best summarized in Acts 1:8; “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
